Mengzi Pomegranates Export Introduction
Renowned as China’s premier pomegranate producing area, Mengzi in Yunnan Province is famous for premium soft-seed pomegranates. Favored by unique plateau valley natural conditions, Mengzi soft-seed pomegranates have long been one of China’s key high-end fruits for export. They are shipped in large quantities to Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, Europe, America, the Middle East and other regions, winning consistent praise from overseas fresh produce distributors and consumers.
Located in the dry-hot valley of Honghe Prefecture in southern Yunnan, Mengzi sits at an altitude of around 1300 meters. The region boasts abundant sunshine, a long frost-free period and striking day-night temperature differences. Ample sunlight facilitates the accumulation of nutrients and sugar inside fruits, while the large temperature gap preserves rich fruit juice and delicate aroma. The fertile laterite soil is rich in natural trace elements, and all crops are irrigated by clean mountain spring water with no industrial pollution, laying a solid foundation for the superior taste of Mengzi pomegranates.
Different from traditional hard-seed varieties, Mengzi mainly cultivates Tunisian soft-seed pomegranates. The arils are plump, bright ruby red and translucent, filled with abundant sweet juice without tartness. The seeds are tender and edible directly without spitting out, bringing comfortable eating experience for both adults and kids. All our orchards adopt eco-friendly standardized cultivation. No ripening agents, swelling agents or excessive chemical preservatives are applied throughout the growing period. Fruits are hand-picked only after full natural ripeness.
After harvesting, all pomegranates go through strict manual sorting. Cracked, bruised and defective fruits are eliminated, and qualified fruits are graded by diameter to meet international supermarket requirements.
